Flatland Series

Copper Creek Triathlon is a member of the newlycreated Flatland Multisport Series. The goal of the series is to provide Central Iowa triathletes the opportunity to race in safe, supported environments in or near their own community.

Athletes registering for all three events will receive an entry fee discount to all three events. Athletes competing in the series will receive points based on their performance at Flatland races. Prizes will be award to the top athletesat a banquet in the fall of 2008.

Flatland Multisport Series events are Copper Creek Triathlon (June 8), Big Creek Tri 28 (July 27), and Dutchman Half Tri (Aug. 9).

The Course:
Copper Creek Triathlon features a challenging course for those new to the sport of triathlon or “seasoned pros.” Lakeside Fitness Center and the Copper Creek Lake Park, located in the heart of Pleasant Hill, will host the race expo and transition
area for this exciting new event.

Swim: Crystal-clear Copper Creek Lake, located directly north of the Lakeside Fitness Club, will host the 750M one loop, clockwise swim.

Bike: The Copper Creek Triathlon bike will be a 20K out-and-back traveling south through the community on Pleasant Hill Boulevard and out to the turn-around on Vandalia Drive. The course has several moderate hills. A bike support vehicle will travel the course.

Run: The residential streets surrounding Copper Creek Golf Course, located directly east of Copper Creek Lake Park, will serve as the 5K run course.

Race Expo:
Packet pick-up will be hosted at the Copper Creek Triathlon Expo at the Lakeside Fitness Club on Saturday, June 7.

Awards:
The following age group categories will be awarded prizes at Copper
Creek as well as the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female Cash Award Recipients
who will receive a total purse of 4,950.00

Individual Awards
Age Group Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age
group (14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59,
60-64, 65-69, 70+)

As well as to the top three finishers of the Clydesdale and Athena division.

(Males over 200lbs. and females over 150lbs. Prizes will be awarded to
the top three Clydesdale and Athena finishers. We will have a weigh in
at packet pick-up.)

Team Awards
Copper Creek awards will be given to the top three teams in each of
the three (Male, Female, Coed) team categories.
If you are unable to stay for the award ceremony, we will hold onto
your award for one month after the race, please contact
